Karen Smith Born in Narberth, PA, has been a Pemberton, NJ resident since 1978. Ms Smith has a 30 year career creating, designing and painting paintings (often mural sized) for a Major New York design firm. This collaboration placed her work in exclusive four and five star hotels and corporate spaces throughout the United States. Spaces as prestigious as the Presidential suite of the historic Willard hotel in Washington, DC contain paintings by Karen Smith.
One of her most recent projects involved doing work for a private home in US Virgin Islands. Ms Smith has been exhibiting work since the late 1980s. With this work in 1992 she won a fellowship from the state of New Jersey and has received many awards throughout her exhibition career. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Karen Smith earned a BFA from Moore College of Art , Phila., PA and continued her studies at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
From 2001 through 2003 she taught Fine Art courses at Burlington County College, Burlington County, New Jersey. She currently teaches Fine Art courses at Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, Loveladies, NJ , Mercer County Community College, Trenton, NJ, and in her studio, Studio Classroom, in Pemberton, NJ.
